Spiritual Literacy

September 16 2019

Spiritual Literacy is all about addressing the question of ‘how can one live the spiritual life every day?’ In our contemporary world, in which Either/Or seems to dominate all strands of thinking it’s odd that after thousands of years of example and literature we have to remind ourselves that actually we live in a Both/And world. Forces of division will want to make us choose, between right and wrong, black and white, good and bad, secular and spiritual, for or against. Culture has progressed to a point where we imagine the human body to be a machine, as a chemical apparatus, or a computerised system, and where the soul has been reduced to human behaviour and genetic determinants. We need a fresh perspective, one that, one that reimagines both the secular life and spiritual activity so they can be naturally in alignment with each other. There is no better time to bring spirituality home, close to the heart and essentially connected to ordinary, everyday life.
